England, at the beginning of the Second World War: The brilliant mathematician Alan Turing is hired by the British secret service to crack - together with a group of code specialists - the Enigma code of the German Wehrmacht, which is considered to be indecipherable. However, Turing's unconventional methods and arrogant manner do not make him any friends among his colleagues. Only the young mathematician Joan Clarke stands by him - she sees in him a kindred spirit, an outsider who must assert himself against all odds. While Turing feverishly works on an electric calculating machine that is supposed to decode Enigma, the two become closer. But the genius Turing has a well-kept secret. Should it become public, both the Enigma project and Turing himself would be in great danger...
